Event Stories App Privacy Policy.

This privacy policy describes how Event Stories handles information when you use our iOS application. Event Stories is published by 12F ApS, a Danish company (CVR 45362957), and this policy is written to meet our obligations under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In short

  • Everything you plan in Event Stories — your events, tasks, guests, budgets, notes, documents and photos — is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. We have no access to it.
  • We collect anonymous usage analytics so we can see which features work and which do not. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Analytics.
  • We do not track you. We never access the advertising identifier (IDFA), we show no ads, we use no advertising or attribution SDKs, and we never share your data with data brokers or combine it with data from other companies.
  • The only time we receive anything that could identify you personally is if you choose to write to us through the in-app feedback form.

Your event data

All the content you create in the app — events, tasks, items, shopping and wish lists, guests and RSVPs, seating plans, schedules, expenses, notes, documents and photos — is stored locally on your device.

If you are signed in to iCloud, this content also syncs through Apple’s iCloud to your other devices, using your own private iCloud database. It is stored under your Apple Account, governed by Apple’s privacy policy, and we cannot read it. We do not operate any server that stores your event content.

If you use the sharing feature to collaborate on an event, the content of that event is shared through iCloud with the people you invite, so that you can plan together. You control who is invited and can stop sharing at any time.

Analytics

We collect anonymous usage data to understand how people use Event Stories and to improve it. This is done with two privacy-focused analytics services:

What we collect:

  • Which screens are opened and which features are used
  • App events such as creating an event, adding a guest, opening the upgrade screen, completing or cancelling a purchase, and errors
  • The purchase price, currency and App Store storefront of a purchase
  • Technical context: device type (iPhone/iPad), iOS version, app version, language and region
  • Session recordings of the app’s own interface — see the next section

What we do not collect:

  • Your name, email address or postal address (unless you send us feedback — see below)
  • Your event names, task details, notes, guest lists, budgets, documents or photos
  • Your contacts
  • Precise location data
  • The advertising identifier (IDFA)

Identifiers: so that we can count how many distinct people use a feature, each installation is given a pseudonymous identifier. PostHog generates a random identifier that is stored only in the app. TelemetryDeck uses a salted, irreversible hash of Apple’s vendor identifier (an ID that is specific to our apps on your device and is reset when you delete the app). Neither identifier tells us who you are, and neither can be used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. As with any internet request, your IP address reaches our analytics providers; it is used to derive an approximate country or region and is not used to identify you.

Session recordings

To find out where people get stuck, our analytics include session recordings: periodic screenshots of the app’s interface while you use it. These recordings are anonymous, are linked only to the pseudonymous identifier described above, and are never sold or shared for advertising.

Because a screenshot captures whatever is on screen, we mask sensitive content before it leaves your device:

  • Everything you type into a text field is masked
  • All images and photos are masked
  • System screens shown by iOS, such as the contact picker, are masked
  • Guest names, wherever the app displays them — in the guest list, the contact importer, the guest picker and the seating plan — are masked

Session recordings are part of analytics and are switched off by the same setting.

Turning analytics off

Analytics and session recordings are on by default, and you can switch them off at any time:

Settings → Privacy → Analytics → toggle off

(Open the app, tap the gear icon at the top right of the event list, and scroll to the “Privacy” section.)

When you switch it off, the app stops collecting and sending usage events and session recordings. Everything else in the app continues to work exactly as before.

Feedback you send us

The app has a feedback form (Settings → Send Feedback). If you use it, we receive the message you write and, if you fill them in, your name and email address — both are optional, and are only needed if you would like a reply. We use this solely to answer you and to fix what you report. We do not add it to a mailing list and do not share it with anyone.

Tracking

Event Stories does not track you, as the term is used in Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework and in Apple’s App Store guidelines. Specifically:

  • We do not access the advertising identifier (IDFA), and the app contains no advertising, attribution or ad-network software.
  • We do not link the data we collect with data from other companies for advertising purposes.
  • We never share your data with data brokers.
  • The app shows no advertising.

For this reason the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission — there is nothing to authorise.

Permissions the app asks for

Each of these is requested through the standard iOS prompt, only at the moment you use the feature that needs it, and each can be changed later in the iOS Settings app. None of this data is sent to us.

  • Photos and Camera — to attach or take photos of venues, decorations, receipts and memories. Photos stay on your device and in your iCloud.
  • Contacts — only if you choose to import guests from your address book. Only first and last names are imported, they stay on your device, and we never receive them.
  • Notifications — to remind you about task deadlines. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
  • Calendar — only if you choose to export an event’s schedule to your calendar.

Other services

  • Address search. When you search for a venue address, the text you type is sent to Apple Maps to return suggestions. This is handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy, and we do not receive it.
  • Purchases. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. We only receive the anonymous analytics event described above, recording that a purchase completed and at what price.

How long we keep data

Your event data stays on your device and in your iCloud for as long as you keep it — deleting it in the app, or deleting the app and its iCloud data, removes it. Anonymous analytics and session recordings are kept only as long as they are useful for improving the app, and are subject to our analytics providers’ own retention policies, linked above. Feedback messages are kept until the matter you raised is resolved.

Children’s privacy

Event Stories is a general-audience app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Denmark, Datatilsynet).

Most of your data never reaches us: your event content is yours, on your device and in your iCloud, and you can view, change or delete it in the app at any time. For the anonymous analytics we do receive, we cannot connect it to you, which means we are unable to look it up or delete it for a specific person — but you can stop it entirely with the Analytics setting described above. If you have sent us feedback and want it deleted, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page.
