Home Stories App Privacy Policy.

This privacy policy describes how Home Stories handles information when you use our iOS application.

Information Collection and Use

Home Stories does not ask for your name, email or any account with us. The projects, tasks, items, notes, photos and documents you create belong to you, and we have no access to them. To improve the app, we collect anonymous usage data (see Analytics below), and you can switch that off at any time.

Data Storage

Everything you create is stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, it is also stored in your own iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit, so it can sync between your devices. If you share a project, it is also available to the people you invite. Apple runs iCloud under its own privacy policy. We do not run any servers or databases that hold your projects.

Analytics

We use PostHog for analytics, hosted in the EU. View their privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy

Analytics data is not linked to your identity. It is used only to understand how Home Stories is used and to improve it. It is never sold, and never used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

What we collect:

  • Which features and screens you use, and app performance
  • Device information (iPhone or iPad model, iOS version, app version, language)
  • Screen recordings of app sessions, used to find bugs and confusing screens. Text fields and images are masked, so what you type and your photos are never recorded. Other text shown on screen, such as a project name in a list, can appear in a recording.
  • Whether you installed the app after tapping an ad from Apple Ads. Apple’s AdServices framework tells the app this, along with the ad campaign and keyword involved. This lets us see which of our ads actually help people. No App Tracking Transparency permission is involved, and no other app or website sees this information.
  • A random identifier created by the app, so events from the same install can be grouped together

What we DO NOT collect:

  • Your name, email, or other contact information
  • What you type, or your photos and documents
  • Location data
  • The advertising identifier (IDFA)

Opting Out:

You can turn analytics off at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy → Analytics → Toggle OFF

When analytics is off, the app sends nothing to PostHog and does not ask Apple about ads either.

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the “Last Updated” date at the top.

Your Rights

Analytics data is not linked to your identity, so we usually cannot pick out the records that belong to you. If you want your analytics data deleted, email us and we will do what we can. To stop any further collection, turn analytics off as described above. Your projects stay under your control, on your device and in your iCloud account.
